Frontline continental art hub, GetLit Africa hosts Purple Room on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. WAT in Ikeja, Lagos, bringing together emerging creatives, storytellers and art enthusiasts for an evening of conversations, creative expression and connection.
Held monthly, Purple Room will provide a welcoming space for writers, poets, filmmakers, performers, visual artists, content creators and art enthusiasts to build relationships, share their works and explore opportunities.
The gathering will feature networking, creative games, open-mic performances, member showcases and participatory discussions on art-related themes. Everyone will be encouraged to contribute their perspectives, share personal experiences and exchange ideas about creative life.
According to a statement by GetLit Africa, through these monthly gatherings, it aims to strengthen creative community, encourage collaboration and help participants take practical steps toward developing their work.
“Participation in Purple Room is free but requires registration. The idea is to introduce relevant opportunities and resources, helping members prepare to access support from existing cultural organisations and creative platforms. So it is a great platform to showcase what you have as a creative person, no matter the platform you have chosen to express yourself -poetry, singing, photography, writing, visual arts- just bring it on,” says founder and creative director, Olawale Oluwadahunsi.
Founded in 2016, GetLit Africa is a storytelling and cultural organization that connects African creatives through artistic expression, community engagement and access to opportunities. Its activities include spoken-word competitions, cultural gatherings and creative conversations.
