A man, Ganiyu Aikore, has landed in trouble in Ogun State for allegedly defiling his 17-year old daughter and attempting to abort the pregnancy as the victim foiled the plans and exposed him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the man, Ganiyu Aikore has been arrested and detained by the Police operatives from the Ogun State Command for the alleged defilement.
The incident happened at Mokola Isale Tapa area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, where they reside.
This was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who stated that Ganiyu Aikore was suspected to have had carnal knowledge of his daughter, adding that the pregnancy was precisely 23 weeks.
After the suspect discovered that he had got his daughter pregnant, he approached a nearby pharmaceutical store to procure what was suspected to be abortion pills.
However, the whole thing got exposed after the daughter suspected that her father was about to terminate the pregnancy; she raised alarm which drew the attention of other concerned residents in the area and contacted the chairman of the community about the incident.
Thus, the Chairman of the community took the daughter to the Adatan Police Division and reported the incident against the father. And he was subsequently arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
“We have arrested him. He was suspected to have been sexually involved with his teenage daughter for a very long time. The pregnancy is 23 weeks. We are conducting further investigation,” she confirmed.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if he is found guilty for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
