Governor Umahi espouses as he; in all ramifications demonstrate that the future belongs to the youth. In his unreserved promotion of youth activeness and their vibrant participation in politics and governance, Akubaraoha puts his words on the table and decorate them with affirmation and fulfilment. The rarity of such leaders is commonplace, particularly in Nigeria where most leaders revel in unfulfilled promises and broken vows; and call it “politics”.
Let’s recall that in the build up to the 2015 gubernatorial election in Ebonyi State, the political equation tended towards a dislocation of the State democratic equilibrium due to pressure, but Governor Umahi; who was then the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, held fort for equity and confronted the political leviathans, who stood on their Olympian heights and pointed dishonorably at a direction that was obviously opposed to fairness and justice.
The actions or was it inactions of the political behemoths of that era were antithetical to the democratic ethos on which the founding fathers of Ebonyi State anchored governorship rotation of the State for peace and the mutuality of our tripod harmony as a people. The good people of the North saw the political shananigans for what it was and supported power shift to the South. At the end Governor Umahi triumphed at the polls and became the 3rd Executive Governor of our dear State even as he made the avowal that he must return power to the North Zone of the State after his eight years tenure.
2023 is here and Governor Umahi has kept to his promises and avowal despite pressures that were designed to lure him into toeing the ignoble path of the gladiators of yore. Akubaraoha as a man of his words who fears God, did not only pick and anointed a successor from the North as he promised, he equally gave us a youth successor who knows and understands the plights of the youth of Ebonyi State and whom the youth cherish and appreciate for his friendliness and altruism.
Indeed, Governor Umahi has engraved his name in the minds of grateful youths of Ebonyi State. Hence, they hold him in very high esteem. He will be remembered forever on the right side of history by the present generation and indeed generations yet unborn. We as a party are not left out, the State Working Committee of the APC, Ebonyi State deeply appreciates Your Excellency for keeping to your promises to their impressive logical conclusion. We hold you in high esteem as well. Your character and integrity are unparalleled as a leader who is trusted. We will never forget your breath-taking legacies as Governor of Ebonyi State even as we pray God to guide, direct and protect you as you metamorphose most gloriously to the president of the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Amen.
