Joe Boy and Prince square up to each other at the radio station

Near-mortal ring rivals, Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph and Nurudeen “Prince” Fatai, had to be pulled apart, following a near-clash during an interview at the Metro FM studio in Lagos on Friday.

Relationship between the two boxers has been combustible since Joe Boy defeated Prince via a knockout in a challenge contest at GOtv Boxing Night 4.

It got worse after their second fight when Joe Boy dethroned Prince as the national lightweight champion at GOtv Boxing Night 7.

The duo is billed to clash again at GOtv Boxing Night 10, holding at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, on 26 December.

Asked on Metro FM what fans should expect in their next clash, Joe Boy said his opponent, who goes by the ring name Prince, is his slave.

“I have beaten him before and will beat him again. He calls himself Prince, but he is my slave. I will send him on retirement. He is due for retirement,” said Joe Boy.

His response got Prince into red-eyed rage.

Shouting into the microphone, the former champion said he is happy to have an opportunity to avenge previous defeats, which he claimed he did not deserve.

But Joe Boy interjected before he could finish, an action Prince did not take kindly to. With his hands rolled into fists, he moved towards his opponent, who also responded in kind, forcing the interviewer to step between them to prevent an all-out clash.

GOtv Boxing Night 10 will feature six other fights, including the African Boxing Union (ABU) welterweight title bout between Nigeria’s Stanley “Edo Boy” Eribo, national champion, and Meshack “Smart Boy” Mwankemwa of Tanzania.

Another title bout, will see Nigeria’s Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi defend his West African crown against Ghana’s Raphael “Iron King” Kwabena. Both boxers clashed at GOtv Boxing Night 9, a close-fought challenge contest that the Nigerian won via a split decision.

The line-up also includes Waidi “Skoro” Usman, West African featherweight champion, fighting Dare “Fighting Machine” Oyewole in a challenge bout, while Kabiru “KB Godson” Towolawi takes on Felix “Man Mopol” Igwe in a light heavyweight challenge duel.

Two other bouts will have Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu clash with Prince “Lion” Nwoye in the lightweight division, while Rilwan “Baby Face” Oladosu will test his credentials as a budding light welterweight star against Sikiru “Omo Iya Eleja” Shogbesan.

The best boxer at the event will go home with a cash prize of N1.5million and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.
