Gov. Mbah And The Illegal Sit-@-home

Positive news is no longer of interest to us; instead, we have acquired a preference for the negative press.

If we lack the desire or the culture to emphasize our positive traits more than we do our negative ones, it will be difficult to embrace the progress and development we seek.

I am yet to see any handle or blog hailing Gov. Peter Mbah’s security fortification of Enugwu State yesterday Monday, and even touring the state himself to note the level of compliance with the ban on Mondays sit-at-home in the state.

Gov. Peter Mbah is only a few weeks as Governor of Enugwu State, not minding the many challenges, he has hit the ground running from the first day and ticked all the boxes of the expectations of the people of Enugwu State and across Alaigbo.

I have a special interest in Enugwu State because the beautiful city embodies the heritage of Ala-Igbo; it’s the center for art and culture and the capital of the present-day Southeast; hence, if Enugu succeeds, Southeast and Ala-Igbo would be on the verge of success; if she fails, we all would’ve failed.

So far, the security situation in the eastern capital has been of great concern since the last lap of the immediate past governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, whom Dr. Peter Mbah succeeded. Mbah has distanced himself from any excuses while acknowledging that Government is a continuum and, where the former failed, he must try to do things differently and also take responsibility where necessary. This is nothing but the hallmark of purposeful leadership.

With the progress of his desire to see residents of Enugwu shake off the new normal, which is fast turning into a culture of including Mondays as weekends due to the illegal sit-at-home of a few non-state actors, Governor Mbah might be the proverbial golden fish walking the talk for other Southeast Governors.

The people of Enugwu State are now reclaiming their full weekdays from the non-state actors, as the Government has pledged to fulfill its own obligations of providing security and leading the way for an engaging and busy Mondays.

The fortification of the city with security, both kinetic and non-kinetic, will naturally evoke will among the people and drive them to go out on Mondays to conduct their business, fully aware that the government is walking their talk of protecting lives and properties.

Yesterday, the city was a bustle of activity as the Joint Security Forces stationed themselves around the city’s length and breadth, keeping an eye out for enemies of the people and the state.

This alone signifies not just the desire to end sit-at-home, but the sincerity of heart and intent to lead and Govern the people in accordance with the oath of office.

Gov. Mbah has indeed validated that when there’s a will, there’s no limit to what one can achieve.

Alaigbo must recover‼️
