The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has resumed unscheduled visits to inspect and supervise ongoing construction works on the 10.2 km Mmiata Anam- Nzam Roads and the bridge thereto to ensure quality adherence and speedy completion.
Gov Obiano during the inspection tour of the projects reaffirmed his commitment towards ensuring their speedy completion.
The adjoining 120 meter bridge which had 6 spans of 20 meters each, was designed in 2008 but had to be redesigned after the 2012 massive flooding due to the high water level observed.
Currently, ongoing piling works on the bridge were progressing well with filling having been achieved on an 8 kilometer stretch on the road.
While addressing the people after the inspections, Gov Obiano revealed that the surprise visits were to see for himself what the contractors had done with the money already released to them and expressed satisfaction with what had been achieved.
He also ascertained that the project marked the first ever road leading to the agrarian communities of Mmiata Anam and Nzam areas; he believed that with the assurances of the contractors, sizeable portion of the road would be ready before August.
The projects, Gov Obiano acknowledged were in line with the vision of his administration to create access to communities especially those with positive prospects for Agriculture, adding that he will continue to release funds to ensure that they were completed according to plan.
The project manager of the firm handling the job, Mr. John Nasir revealed that with the support of the governor and inputs of Engineers from the Ministry of Road Infrastructure, Furniture and Maintenance, they have completed the redesigning of the bridge and the roads to accommodate the flood usually experienced in the area and promised that they will work hard to deliver on time.
The community members who came out to welcome the governor Obiano, commended him for the project, and prayed to almighty God to bless him, as he continue delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
