The Executive Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has described the National Coordinator of Benue Rebirth Movement (BRM), Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan (Rtd), as an exemplary figure effective leader, a consummate mobilizer and unifier.

The Governor was speaking at Benue People’s House (Government House), Makurdi, on 22nd June 2021, when AVM Morgan led a delegation of Benue South Senatorial District (Zone C) under the umbrella of BRM on an advocacy visit to the Governor.

Benue Rebirth Movement, BRM, is the body leading the agitation for the Zone C to produce the next Benue State Governor in 2023.

Tuesday’s visit was the second led by AVM to the Governor in pursuit of the same agenda – power shift in 2023.

The Governor said the BRM National Coordinator’s leadership qualities have manifested not only in his meritorious rise to the top during his Military career, but is also showing in his ability to bring together all the diverse components, tendencies, social strata and groups in Zone C under one umbrella to pursue a common project in which he has no personal interest.

What the Governor found even more remarkable was the ability of AVM Morgan, a non-politician, to assemble all calibres of politicians, particularly leaders of the opposing two dominant political parties in the state (PDP and APC) to not only subscribe to BRM’s agenda but to also accompany him on the visit.

He said BRM under AVM Morgan was setting the pace in sociopolitical mobilization for a common purpose and unity. He said if groups in other zones of the state could emulate BRM, the state would be better for it in terms of achieving peace. unity and rapid development.

He urged the National Coordinator and BRM to extend their mobilization efforts and advocacy to Zones A and B to facilitate the actualization of their dream and taking the position of Benue State Governor to Zone C in 2023.

Earlier in his address, the National Coordinator of BRM and leader of delegation, AVM Monday Morgan, said it was the craving for inclusiveness in the governance of the state that prompted “the peace-loving people of Benue South Senatorial District to make this bold but resolute, passionate plea to let our Tiv brothers see reason with us to allow us a go at the exalted office of the Governor of Benue State”.

He said the desire of Zone C people was for a state where the foundation of fairness, equity and integrity would prevail, bounded by love, oneness, brotherliness, compassion and empathy which will ensure peace, development and creative growth.

“Our request is that the governorship of Benue State, come 2023, be ceded to Benue South Senatorial District by Zones A and B stakeholders as an acceptance of this laudable proposal for a new Benue State” AVM Morgan concluded.
