His Excellency, Gov Alex Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State, has approved the hosting of the 27th annual AfriCANDO (U.S. – Africa Trade and Investment Conference & EXPO and Medal of Glory Awards Dinner scheduled to hold from November 12 to 19, 2026 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, capital city of Abia State.
According to a notice of the event shared on Sunday, July 5, 2026, by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D., the conference which has its “focus sectors” in agriculture, consumer goods energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, academic science and technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), is hosted by the Abia State Government; organised by the Foundation for Democracy in Africa (FDA); and AGOS CSO Network, in collaboration with the Abia Global Chamber of Commerce.
The statement appealed to all concerned, “Join government business leaders, civil society, entrepreneurs, and innovators from Africa, the U. S., and around the world to strengthen partnerships, drive investment, and unlock new opportunities for economic growth and shared prosperity.”
His Excellency, Gov Alex Otti, OFR, never disappoints. He is always at alert, mentally and action -oriented in all his undertakings. This time, due to the avalanche of infrastructural facilities and enable environment he has provided for businesses to thrive in all the corners of Abia State, a wonderful event of such magnitude is taking place in the capital city of the state. I am sure that the participants would take time to go round the state capital and other parts of the state to “eyemark” and appreciate what Gov Otti has put in place.
