Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has made a compelling case for global investment, urging the Nigerian diaspora to channel capital into the state’s burgeoning economic ecosystem.

Addressing delegates on Wednesday at the ongoing Nigeria Diaspora Economic Development Conference in Toronto, Canada, Governor Soludo positioned Anambra as a prime, high-yield destination for international and diaspora capital.

The four-day summit, facilitated by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), officially commenced on August 12 and is scheduled to conclude on August 15, 2026.

A central pillar of the Governor’s address was a direct call for investment in the Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC). Governor Soludo explained that ADIC is specifically engineered to institutionalize investment promotion and protection while aggressively de-risking private capital.

“We are capitalizing ADIC to de-risks investments. The diaspora is welcome to invest in ADIC,” Governor Soludo stated, noting that numerous diaspora stakeholders have already initiated partnership discussions focusing on key sectors such as power generation.

Drawing comparisons to institutional frameworks of national scale, the Governor noted that ADIC mirrors the operational philosophy of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), an institution he conceptualized and founded during his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Clad in his signature indigenous akwete attire—a move that drew widespread acclaim for cultural promotion—Governor Soludo outlined his administration’s systemic blueprint for a livable and prosperous homeland.

Sharing a high-level panel session with Zamfara State Governor, His Excellency Dauda Lawal, Governor Soludo highlighted major infrastructural milestones currently underway, headlined by a flagship industrial city featuring an integrated aerotropolis.

He further explained that key highlights of the economic roadmap include; power Infrastructure which involves development of a dedicated power substation within the new industrial zone, urban Revival which involves the full economic revitalization of Onitsha as a commercial nerve center, bolstered by the absolute eradication of historical disruptions such as the Monday sit-at-home orders.

According to the Governor, another highlight is security and governance, mainstreamed as a robust reinforcement of local security architecture, which prompted the Governor to advocate strongly for the decentralization and devolution of policing powers down to the local government tier.

Challenging prevailing narratives surrounding economic timing, the Governor Soludo asserted that proactive nation-building supersedes passive observation.

“It is either we survive or perish,” Soludo remarked, emphasizing that Nigeria remains a fertile ground for enterprise for those willing to drive deliberate growth.

Expressing profound confidence in the measurable success of the current Anambra governance model, the Governor urged the global diaspora community to leverage ongoing reforms and actively participate in the state’s trajectory toward becoming a premier industrial hub.
