“We have awarded contracts for the construction of 305 classroom blocks in the 305 wards of the State to assuage the challenges of dilapidated classroom blocks in the State.”
“In IMSUBEB Capital Projects Account, we have money over N12 billion and that will all be deployed to repair the old schools and build new ones starting from this year.”
“We have resolved the issues between the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board and the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC), which caused the delay in the construction of the new classroom blocks”!
Across the 305 wards and 27 LGAs of the State, Governor Uzodimma has continually ensured that the education sector takes _prima facie_ and front charge and position over other sectors in terms of funding and support, for obvious reasons.
On a more certain note, Governor Uzodimma has restore the education sector and done so much to reposition the schools system to compete favourably well with school systems around the world.
The Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri; the Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH) Orlu; and other schools at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, have all been receiving due attention and enhancements from Governor Uzodimma.
Governor Uzodimma constructed a brand new main campus for Imo State Polytechnic at Omuma in Oru East LGA, and relocated the tertiary institution from Umuagwo in Ohaji-Egbema LGA.
The governor established the Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in an improved campus at Umuagwo in Ohaji-Egbema LGA.
While the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was strike in Nigeria, with other universities observing the “no work no pay” policy, Governor Uzodimma granted approval for all lecturers in the State-owned tertiary institutions to be paid their due salaries and allowances.
Amid all things that the governor has done for the education sector, he has placed the welfare and well-being of teachers and lecturers in the education system of Imo State at all levels as a front line charge.
