The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has shown compassion and milk of human kindness in him by directing the Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences to return all the seized vehicles in their custody to their owners across the State.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that this followed a memo sent to the Governor by the Chairman of the Task Force, CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi, seeking for approval to auction all the seized vehicles in order to create space for where they will park newly seized vehicles.
However, the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, told them to go and contact the owners and return the vehicles and warn the offenders not to break the traffic laws or any law that will warrant seizing their vehicles in future in the State.
It was gathered that the Governor told them it was better to return those vehicles to their owners because the vehicles could be source of livelihood to the owners and families.
The decision was said to have shocked some of the Task Force members, who had already made arrangements with accredited auctioneers, on how they will buy most of the vehicles at give away prices and resell it to make profit.
It was also gathered that the Task Force members were in dilemma on how to contact the owners, who they had reportedly frustrated in the past; some of them out of frustration had relocated elsewhere while some may have died due to frustration.
But the action of the Governor has been attracting commendations from Lagosians who heard what happened. Some said the Governor has demonstrated that he has conscience and care for the welfare of the people while some said he wanted to use it for political gains over the restriction of motorcycles and tricycle in the State. However, majority welcomed the development and said it showed that the Government cared for the welfare of the people in the State.
When P.M.EXPRESS contacted some of the Task Force members in the absence of their Chairman, they confirmed the directive from the Governor and said they had no option than to contact the owners.
However, it was not confirmed if the Task Force have started contacting the owners but some of them who reportedly had borrowed money anticipating the auction were said to have started returning the money to owners.

  • It is good for a leader to show some extra qualities when it comes to administration, the Lagos State govt. Has just exhibited a passion for the goodness of his subjects.
    My appreciation goes to him.
At the same time, I must say, people should endeavor to obey the rules of law. It is for good of every one
