In line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially recommenced membership registration and revalidation exercise.

Leading from the front, the party’s National Leader, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, alongside his wife, Dr (Mrs) Nonye Soludo, were the first to undergo the revalidation process.

Governor Soludo praised the party’s proactive shift, noting that APGA’s digital transition actually began in 2024, placing them ahead of other political parties in Nigeria.

“APGA will continue to lead and provide leadership,” Governor Soludo remarked. “We started this journey before every other political party. This is a chance for every member—old and new—to cement their place in a party built to lift the people.”

The Governor also highlighted a secondary benefit of the digital push: integrity. With biometrics and NIN integration, the party hopes to eliminate the phenomenon of “cross-party squatting,” ensuring that no individual holds membership in multiple political organizations simultaneously.

Speaking at the launch, APGA National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa emphasized that this isn’t just a cosmetic update. Under the brand-new Electoral Act, political parties are now legally mandated to maintain digital registers featuring verifiable member data.

Ezeokenwa warned that sticking to old methods virtually guarantees a lack of internal democracy. By digitizing, the party aims to streamline its primary elections—which the law now dictates must be conducted through either direct primaries or consensus.

“We must eschew analogue registration,” Ezeokenwa stated. “The law requires a digital register with critical information. This ensures that every vote in a primary comes from a legitimate, verifiable source.”

The revalidation exercise is currently active across all wards nationwide. Party officials are urging members to act quickly, as the window for registration is brief.

The Essentials for Registration include, Voter’s Card, National Identification Number (NIN) and Two Passport Photographs.

As APGA prepares for upcoming electoral cycles, this digital census serves as a foundational “cleanup.” By integrating NIN and voter data, the party is essentially building a “bulletproof” voter roll for its internal elections.

For the Governor and the party heirarchy, the exercise isn’t just about technology, but about proving that APGA remains the most organized and modern political force in Nigeria.
