An Osun State based civil society group, Osun Concerned Citizens, has alleged the state government of sponsoring a protest against the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
According to the group, the protest is likely to hold this morning in Abuja, barring any change of plan.
The group, in a press statement issued and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Comr. Afeez Olakunle, said some government officials have gathered and transported the paid protesters to Abuja for the protest.
It maintained that the purpose of the protest is to call for the suspension of Aregbesola as earlier demanded by a sponsored group, the Human Rights Writer Association.
The group said the protest is not only political but reflects the desperate action of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to pull-down Aregbesola because of the crisis in the APC.
“We have it on good authority that the Osun State Government has bought some youths to stage a protest against Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, in Abuja, today.
“The protesters were transported to Abuja yesterday and each of them was given N15,000. They are to call for the suspension of the Minister because of the attack on some Nigeria Correctional Centres.
“This is another desperate move by Governor Oyetola and his people to smear Aregbesola and pull him down politically.
“We urge President Muhammadu Buhari, security agencies and well-meaning Nigerians not to take the protesters serious because they are agents of the Osun State Government”, the group said.
