Group Raises Alarm Over Wanted Suspect Allegedly Moving Freely, Petitions IGP for Urgent Probe

 

A youth group in Osun State, Igbimo Odo Ìjèsà, has called on the Inspector-General of Police to urgently investigate the alleged freedom of a wanted suspect, Solomon Adefisoye, popularly known as Solo Iwara, who is reportedly still moving openly despite being declared wanted for serious crimes.

In a statement issued by the group on Tuesday by its spokesman, Olumide Adedeji, members expressed shock and concern that the suspect, allegedly wanted for murder, kidnapping, and robbery, continues to move freely across Ilesa and other parts of Ìjèsà land without apparent restraint.

“It is alarming and deeply troubling that an individual declared wanted for grave crimes can still be seen openly in our communities, moving about without fear or consequence,” the group stated.

It will be recalled that Solomon Adefisoye has been declared wanted for the murder of some Ijesa youths.

The list of those allegedly murdered through Solo Iwara’s activities include: Gbenga Ogbara and Niyi Olajide from Igangan, Tope Samuel Ajumobi, Onigbogi Gbenga of Olopon, Ibrahim Taiwo from Eti-Oni, Adekunle Aratunde from Itapa-Ijesa, Okunola Job, Oladele Sunday from Araromi-Otokobo, and Adeyeye Tunji from Aba-Church.

The group further alleged that the suspect has been emboldened by what they described as claims of protection, reportedly boasting that law enforcement agencies are unable to act against him.

“Residents have reported that he goes about boasting that nothing can be done to him, which raises serious concerns about public safety and the integrity of law enforcement,” they added.

According to the group, there are also claims linking the suspect to a certain top Osun State public official, though no official confirmation has been made.

“There are disturbing claims circulating that he enjoys backing from influential figures, including allegations that motorcycles were recently distributed to some of his associates. These claims must be thoroughly investigated,” the statement said.

According to the group, there have been claims Solomon has been boasting of the support he is enjoying from the top public official who recently allegedly gave 10 motorbikes to some of Solo Iwara’s associate

The group recalled that the suspect had previously been declared wanted in connection with multiple killings in the Ìjèsà axis, listing victims across several communities.

“It is unacceptable that a man linked to the deaths of numerous young people across Ìjèsà communities is still seen walking freely. This situation has left families devastated and communities in fear,” they said.

They questioned the apparent lack of enforcement, warning that such developments could erode public confidence in security institutions.

“The question on everyone’s mind is simple: how can someone declared wanted for such serious offences continue to roam freely and even boast of immunity?” the group asked.

Igbimo Odo Ìjèsà also called for a formal inquiry into the alleged relationship between the suspect and the Osun State Government official, urging transparency.

“We call on the Inspector-General of Police to invite all individuals whose names have been mentioned in connection with this matter to clarify their roles and relationships. The public deserves answers,” the group said.

The group further alleged that the suspect may be using locations outside Osun State as temporary hideouts.

“There are also reports that he retreats to other cities after incidents, which makes it even more critical for security agencies to act swiftly and decisively,” they noted.

The group further stated that the suspect has also been heard boasting that the top politician secured two apartments for him, one in Ibadan and another in Akure

This two cities are the refuge Solo escapes to for hibernation anytime a crime is committed within Ilesa and environ, the group claimed.

They concluded by urging the police hierarchy to take immediate action to restore public confidence and ensure justice for victims.

“We are calling on the Inspector-General of Police to act without delay. The safety of our communities and the credibility of our institutions depend on it,” the statement added.
