A socialite, Alhaja Lola Awoola, had a nasty experience after she engaged a 25-year old man, Abubakar Ibrahim, as a security guard in her Lagos home and it turned out that the guard was of dubious character.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that after Ibrahim was employed as a guard, he allegedly arranged with an accomplice now at large, used a master key to to open Alhaja’s apartment and carted away her Jewelries worth N15m.
The incident happened on 18th May, 2025, at Amimbola Amope Sea Side Estate, Badore in Ajah area of Lagos, where the complainant resides
The alleged theft was reported to the Police. The The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him at SCID, Yaba, for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the guard was found culpable for using a master key to open the complainant’s apartment, stealing the items and escaping from the scene. He initially denied knowing of the theft.
The Police consequently charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal law of the State which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, M.U. Okolie Esq, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Alaka, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
