CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

A gate man at the Government Junior College, Ajara in Badagry area of Lagos, one Fasinu Wusu, has been arrested for engaging an 11-year old student in a sex romp inside the school compound.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 11th February, 2019, during school hours within the premises.
It was gathered that the suspect allegedly lured the victim into the office, pulled her pant and penetrated her.

However, it leaked and the victim informed the school management; the suspect was summoned and he confessed to the management. He was subsequently handed over to the police for prosecution.

The police found him culpable and he was charged before Badagry Magistrates Court for the alleged offence. He was said to have denied the charges. Subsequently, he was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 2nd April, 2019.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that there was a twist to the story as the school management was said to have not managed the information properly and it got to the public space thereby exposing the victim.
It was learnt that the victim’s parent want her to switch to another school because according to the report the entire school was already aware of the victim’s situation.
There have been reactions following the leakage of the act which invariably she might lead to the stigmatization of the victim in the school by the teachers who acted unprofessionally.
Some suggested that a word of caution or probably punishment for those identified for making the situation known to other students. Meanwhile, the defendant has been remanded in prison pending the date the matter will come up in Court to know if it will be transferred to the High Court.
It was learnt that if it was a case of defilement, the matter will be referred to the DPP for advice and probably tried for defilement which attracts long prison terms if he is found culpable and subsequently sentenced.
