One of Nigeria’s brightest advertising practitioners Mr. Hakeem Adenekan is dead.
Adenekan, the chief executive officer of Commstrat Association Group, was reportedly passed in the early hour of Monday in Lagos, Nigeria.
Sources said the amiable Adenekan had been ill for a while prior to his death Monday.
His remains has been moved to Abeokuta, Ogun State for burial according to Islamic rites.
He was buried Monday afternoon at the Muslim Cemetery at Olomore, Abeokuta.
Adenekan, who started Commstrat in 2002, had remained a prominent name in the advertising industry in Nigeria till date.
His story is one wrapped in multiple folds –played in core advertising, event management, public relations and brand management.
Late Adenekan, an alumnus of Pan African University also attended Ogun State Polytechnic and University of Navarra, established the Above The Line (Commstrat) and Below The Line (Cross Marketing). Both companies managed some of lucrative brands in the early 2000 and became agencies to be reckon with in the industry then.
He was also the author of the great book; Abeokuta Beyond The Rocks.
