Hamburger with wife, Abolore

As the remains of the slain chairman of the Motorcycle Owners Association of Lagos State, Aro Rasaq Bello, popularly known as Hamburger, would be buried on Friday in Lagos, palpable fear has gripped residents of the Oshodi and its environs over a surprise reprisal attack.

Hamburger would be buried in his new palatial residence at Saka Street, Sogunle, which he completed late last year and moved into after a lavish house warming bash.

The 49-year-old deceased transport union chief was shot dead on Monday.

On Thursday night, the entire Sogunle and Ladipo areas of Oshodi was on locked down as the youths in the area held a candle light procession in honour of Hamburger who commanded a lot of respect for his philanthropy.

Abolore, Hamburger’s wife, who came in Wednesday night with her children from their Dublin, Ireland base, was at the mortuary Thursday afternoon to see her husband’s corpse as well as make all the necessary arrangement for his befitting burial after Jumat prayer on Friday.

Family source told P.M.EXPRESS that the Hamburger’s family on Thursday morning was at the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja GRA to officially meet with the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who in turn promised to visit the family later in the day.

The Commissioner fulfilled his words as he stormed the Hamburger’s family house at Odalume Street, Ladipo with the state Rapid Response Squad Commander, ACP Tunji Disu Thursday afternoon to commiserate with the family and have an on the spot view of the area.

The deceased’s mother while receiving the Police Commissioner and his team said she has accepted her fate but insisted that justice must be seen to be done in ensuring that all those that are involved in the killing of her son are brought to book.

While suing for peace during and after Friday’s burial, Owoseni assured the bereaved woman of the Command’s resolve to bring the culprits to book.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the police will transfer the Hamburger’s murder case from Area F Police Command in Ikeja to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the CP summoned a meeting of all stakeholders to his office where he reiterated his early stance that peace must prevail at all cost during and after today’s burial of the deceased.

Owoseni stated that should there be any breakdown of law or any breach of peace in the area, he would have to hold the Baale and his chiefs responsible.

Among those present at the meeting were Baale of Shogunle, some of his chiefs, Tunde Ogunsakin, an APC Chieftain in the area, Honourable  Adebayo, Alhaji Muniru Obidairo, Gbenga Soloiki and some councilors in the area.
