Hi-Life Fest: Quest For Next King Of High Life Music Begins As Show Enters Eviction Stage

Life, premium continental lager beer from the stables of Nigerian Breweries is on the hunt for the next king of high-life music as it launches a new season of Hi-Life Fest, a music talent show themed “Turu Ugo Lota.” This new season started airing on the 15th of May with auditions, and Jide Kene Achufusi as the host of this brand-new season.

The first episode started with a brief education on the history of high life, provided by High-Life music legend, Bright Chimezie and Nollywood veteran, Chief Peter Edochie. This was followed with the auditions which took place in different parts of South Eastern Nigeria, specifically Aba, Onitsha, Awka and Enugu.

Numerous individuals showcased their best at the audition stage in the presence of regional judges. While some were debutantes, others presented themselves as second comers, appreciating life Beer for the opportunity of a second chance. The judges of the auditions consisted of members of the entertainment industry in Southeastern Nigeria such as on-air personalities and television presenters.

At the end of the first episode, 15 people from the auditions were presented as contestants on the show. Three were selected from Aba and Awka respectively, while four were selected from Onitsha and five from the city of Enugu. These contestants were male and female of different age groups, performers of various genres of high-life music such as afro-life, high-life pop and more.

The second episode began with the unveiling of the judges for the Hi-Life Fest 2023 competition. The judges include; Jennifer Eliogu; veteran actress and musician, David Jones David; a singer and actor, and Nwodo Kelvin; an Igbo musician. It was further revealed that each episode will feature a celebrity guest to further give a different twist to the competition.

Sharing his excitement about the music show, the Senior Brand Manager, Life Beer, Oluyemi Ekundayo explained that the annual competition is set to keep viewers at the edge of their seats.

“We are excited about the show, but most especially, the unique talents that we have identified as they are embodiments of raw talents. We have made it our responsibility to provide a platform for these incredible musicians to showcase their skills and represent the rich culture and heritage of the East and are very sure that the viewers are in for a great show this season,” he enthused.

The intrigues of Hi-Life Fest will continue this weekend with evictions. The contestants will be slugging it out weekly for a place in the finale and a chance at the show’s N50m worth of prizes, including cash prize, an album recording deal with some of Nigeria’s best producers, a music distribution deal, a video production deal as well as other amazing prizes. The first and second-place finishers will also receive cash prizes and other gifts from Life continental lager beer.

Catch the live action, excitement, and suspense of the Hi-Life Fest on Soundcity TV and on ONTV every Sunday at 8 p.m. Also, watch the broadcast on Africa Magic Igbo at 7 pm and Africa Magic Epic at 10:00 pm.
