The President of Igbo socio-cultural organization,  Igbo Buru Otu, Chief  Chika Nwokedi, has been crowned as the Ezendigbo in Ijegun and Ijedodo land following which he announced a N50m empowerment programme for the Igbo  people in Lagos  State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Nwokedi was crowned as the traditional leader of the Igbo people of the two communities by the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, led by their President, Chief Sunday Eze.

While crowning  him, Chief  Eze noted that over the  years, Nwokedi has contributed enormously to the welfare of the Igbo people and other ethnic groups without any tribal barrier thus when the clamour by the Igbo people to crown him as the Ezendigbo came up, the Igbo Speaking  community, Lagos State, had no objections to that  effect.

In response after his coronation, Eze Chika Nwokedi thanked the Igbo Speaking Community for finding him  worthy to be crowned as the Ezendigbo in the two Communities. He explained that it showed that the Igbo people recognized his contributions for the progress and welfare of the Igbo in Lagos State.

Eze Nwokedi stated that the crown means more service to the Igbo and he would start by empowering Igbo people in the area with N50m on the less privileged in Ijegun and Ijedodo land.

He explained that he would tackle the issue of joblessness among the Igbo people by providing some funds to empower those who really need assistance so that they will not think of committing any crime in the society.

Nwokedi further stated that the windows and the oppressed will also be assisted through his palace, which he named Obi Eziokwu (Palace Of Truth) and ensure that the Igbo people in Ijegun and Ijedodo are happy as his reign will continue to bring more success and  prosperity to the people.

The newly crowned Ezendigbo, Chika Nwokedi, is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and former governorship aspirant in Imo State on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 general election.

He was the former President of Ladipo International Market before he founded the socio-cultural group, Igbo Buru Out, for the welfare of the Igbo people living in  Lagos State.

So many dignitaries attended the coronation including Ezendigbo in Alimosho, business men and captains of industry, other respected individuals including women, who came to his new palace to witness the epoch making event with display of Igbo traditional dance.
