The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Abhishek Singh, has challenged participants of the Mustapha Abdullahi Energy Leadership Fellowship (MAELF) to embrace visionary leadership, innovation, and strategic partnerships in driving Nigeria’s clean energy transition.

Delivering a thought-provoking presentation titled “Accelerating the Energy Transition: India’s Renewable Energy Journey and Lessons for Nigeria” on the final day of the Fellowship, the High Commissioner drew valuable lessons from India’s remarkable progress in renewable energy and sustainable development.

Speaking at the Fellowship, organised by the APC National Youth Wing in collaboration with the DAM Foundation, Ambassador Singh highlighted the importance of policy consistency in attracting long-term investments, decentralised energy systems in expanding access to electricity, and research-driven agriculture in improving productivity. He also encouraged the Fellows to understand the critical role of finance in transforming innovative ideas into scalable and sustainable solutions.

He stressed that the energy transition extends beyond power generation, describing it as a combination of sound policy, strategic financing, innovation, and community engagement. He urged the emerging energy leaders to remain bold, practical, and solution-oriented while building partnerships capable of transforming Africa’s energy landscape.

The High Commissioner further commended the APC National Youth Leader, Hon. Dayo Israel, and the Patron of MAELF, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, for establishing the Fellowship, describing it as a visionary initiative that is nurturing a new generation of renewable energy leaders and injecting fresh ideas into Nigeria’s energy ecosystem.

The Mustapha Abdullahi Energy Leadership Fellowship continues to serve as a premier platform for equipping young Nigerians with the leadership, technical knowledge, and policy expertise required to accelerate the country’s transition to a sustainable and resilient energy future.
