The lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, ARK, has described his late maternal grandmother, Alhaja (Dr) Abibatu Asabi Mogaji, as an “unforgettable heroine whose indelible footprints can never be erased from the sands of time”.

Kasunmu made these remarks today in a statement commemorating the 9th Anniversary of the demise of the late *Iyaloja-General of Nigeria*.

Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji passed on at the ripe age of 96 on June 15th, 2013. During her lifetime, she was not just a market leader, she was also an influential political amazon and an irrepressible rights activist.

Her political activitism dated back to the early 60s when the late nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was unjustly imprisoned by the then Federal Government. Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji was at the forefront of the agitation for the unconditional realese of Chief Awolowo until the late sage was eventually set free in 1966.

In a commemorative statement to mark the 9th Anniversary of the transition of the late politcal icon and philanthropist, Hon. Kasunmu, popularly called ARK said, “On behalf of our father, leader and role model, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the entire Tinubu, Mogaji, Kasunmu and our other families,  I want to specially appreciate everyone, especially our family elders, for their unflinching support, encouragement and inspiration since Mama’s demise”.
“No doubt, Mama lived a fulfilled life of great impact with monumental achievements and legacies to show for it. She positively touched a lot of lives and people from diverse backgrounds. She was a voice for the voiceless and a tireless advocate of a better, united and peaceful Nigeria. That’s why his son and our father, *Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu* has continued to propagate her legacies and tenets through his political activities and strategies, which by the Grace of God will come to fruition in 2023 when he emerges as Nigeria’s president.”

“Mama is an unforgettable heroine whose indelible footprints can never be erased. We can only pray that her beautiful soul will continue to rest in Aljouna Fridau, and we the descendants will also continue to sustain her legacies and ideas” Hon. Kasummu stated.

During her lifetime, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji brought a lot of innovations, progress and development to the market and commodities sector of Nigeria’s economy.May her soul continue to rest in peace.
