A member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Kehinde Joseph, representing Constituency 2 in Alimosho Local Government, has given the scorecard of his achievements and explained why he should be reelected for the second tenure.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Hon Kehinde stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the President of Peace Ambassadors, High Chief Cyril Abananojie, soliciting for support in the upcoming election scheduled to hold on Saturday 18th March, 2023.
Hon. Kehinde, who holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos, stated that he has impacted many people in his constituency through quality representation in the first four years on the floor of the House.
He stated as follows: “I’ve been able to facilitate 28 roads to Alimosho Federal Constituency with the help of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, three bridges – a bridge from Okooloyun to Ipaja Ayobo, from Abaranje to Akesan, Ijegun to FESTAC all link roads alongside lots of major roads had been done too like Ademoye, Onilewura and other roads, which I have been able to facilitate. Likewise the hospitals, one at Ajisegiri PHC, Olorunfunmi Grammar School at Idimu, Abaranje, all these hospitals have been upgraded to School of Nursing and lots of changes had been done through the help of the legislatives. And when it comes to the environment, we have been able to clear the drainage at IPI, Agodo and others”.
“On the issues of security, we have been having relative peace. The Area Commander, through the synergy with my office, we were able to curtail the security issues and Alimosho is moving on well.”
“For the youths, we have done a lot of empowerment programmes through the Lagos State Empowerment Trust Fund. A lot of the youths have benefitted from that and as the Chairman Committee of Agriculture, we have done a lot of entrepreneurship drive for the youths. We called it Lagos State Agricultural Entrepreneurship programme and a lot of our youths have benefitted; some of these youths now have poultry farms and I have been patronizing them. Some are into fisheries and are still enjoying it. The Lagos State Government not only trains them but gives them start up capital; we provide facilities for them to gather experience at least for six months with no fee attached and lead them to establish themselves. In terms of education, we facilitated their admission into Lagos State University and applicable to those who are through with their studies, we employ them if they haven’t found jobs. For those in secondary and primary school, they are being given bursary and sponsoring of their education at least to curtain the youthful exuberance. While we have provided infrastructures like bolehole and we have given out eyeglasses to at least 1000 persons as part of my empowerment and support programmes.”
“After the EndSARS protest, some youths were given a minimum of N100,000 to 100 persons, empowerment programme of POS to persons to start POS business. We still have more to do and will want to be given more opportunity to continue in my capacity to support the people of Alimosho not minding tribe or religion.”
“As a legislator, you must have your Governor. My Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, should be voted in as well as my second bid should be granted so that I can continue to lobby for the development of my Constituency. I’m a ranking member, fresh lawmakers won’t be able to compete; it should be business straight away with my reelection bid because I am not starting as a fresher but will ensure continuity of what I’ve started and take it to greater heights.”
“Most of those who benefitted from the empowerment and support programmes as well as infrastructure are not mainly from my party. I served everyone’s purpose without scrutiny or segregation. I will always do publicity about empowerment and not intervene in its proceedings, embracing all without prejudices or tribalism. You don’t need to know details or peoples interest before you help them; just follow the procedures I don’t need to know you. When I was a Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, those who knew me then knew the way I operated; whenever I see your document I treat it because I believe everyone has equal rights. There are stories where I was given preferential treatment by someone who was once empowered yet I couldn’t even remember the face nor the person but a show of his good deeds without preference has earned me a good name.”
“We need peace in Lagos State and Nigeria devoid of tribalism and sentiments and that’s why it’s only when we live in peace that we can develop our country. As a Government, the oath sworn, is to defend the territory, to make everybody have peaceful coexistence in Nigeria. So let everyone be happy, that’s why I’m working in synergy with High Chief Amb. Cyril Abananojie to promote peace, which is very vital and to express what I’ve done for the people.”
In response, Ambassador Abananojie thanked Hon Kehinde for his humility and reaching out to the grassroots to seek for support. He pledged to support the APC Government in Lagos State and his aspiration to be reelected in the House of Assembly for another four years.
