The Chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community, Mainland, Honourable Uzor Chigozie Patrick, has congratulated Chief Chukwudi Chinye on his emergence as the new President General of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State.

In a congratulatory message on behalf of himself and his executive council, Hon. Uzor described Chief Chinye’s victory as well deserved and a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in him by members of the community across Lagos State.

“I felicitate with Chief Chukwudi Chinye and his executives on their new appointment as Igbo Speaking President General, Lagos State. Congratulations to our amiable President General. Your victory is well deserved,” Hon. Uzor stated.

The inauguration of the new state executive led by Chief Chinye comes at a critical time when the Igbo Speaking Community, representing millions of Ndi Igbo residing and doing business in Lagos, is seeking stronger unity, inclusion, and collaboration with the Lagos State Government and other ethnic groups.

Chief Chukwudi Chinye now assumes the responsibility of coordinating the affairs of Igbo speaking people across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.

Hon. Uzor noted that the new President General is coming in with vast experience and a reputation for bridge-building, and expressed confidence that his administration will prioritize the welfare of Igbo residents, youth empowerment, business support, and cultural preservation.

“The task ahead is to unite all Igbo associations, ensure our people are protected, and deepen our partnership with government for the progress of Ndi Igbo in Lagos,” Hon. Uzor added.

As Chairman of the Mainland, Hon. Uzor Chigozie Patrick will coordinate Igbo speaking affairs in key LGAs including Surulere, Yaba, Apapa, Lagos Mainland, and Mushin.

He assured that the Mainland executive council, “excos,” will work closely with the new state leadership to achieve set goals. He also called on market leaders, town union presidents, and youth groups within the mainland to support the new administration.

“We on the mainland are ready to collaborate with the President General to ensure that the voice of Ndi Igbo is strong in policy discussions, security, and economic development in Lagos,” he said.

Community stakeholders have outlined key expectations for the new executives. These include promoting peaceful coexistence with host communities, creating platforms for job creation and skills acquisition for Igbo youths, supporting indigent students, and strengthening cultural festivals that showcase Igbo heritage in Lagos.

With major markets such as Alaba International, Ladipo, and ASPAMDA under the influence of the Igbo Speaking Community, leaders say the new administration has a vital role to play in protecting businesses and advocating for trader-friendly policies.

Hon. Uzor, in his message, reiterated his commitment to work with Chief Chinye and his team to move the community forward.

“On behalf of the Igbo Speaking Community, Mainland, and my excos, I congratulate our President General once again. We pray that God grants you wisdom to lead and the strength to deliver. Your victory is a victory for all Ndi Igbo in Lagos,” he concluded.

The new executives are expected to unveil their agenda and begin stakeholder engagements in the coming weeks.
