Hostilities Begin As Comrade Okafor Challenge Cup Kicks Off In Badagry

No fewer than 32 teams would be competing for the title as the much-awaited Comrade Emmanuel Okafor football championship kicks off this Saturday at Asiriabo football pitch, Iyana- Era, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

In the fixtures released by the organizers, Royal FC face Formidables FC at 2pm, while Elite FA confront POCSA FC in the second match of the day.

The participating teams are drawn into eight groups as group A comprises Elite FC, Power of The Cross FA, Royal FC and Formidable FC. Group B is made up of Youngstars FC, Sharp Sports, Joint FC and Masters FC.

Group C consist of Olham FA, Micro Giant FC, Sky Rocket FC and Invincible Leopard FC. Group D is made up of Sky Rovers FC, Super Stars FC, Nathan Young Stars and Alaska FA

Others in group E are Kedge Sports, Morning Stars FC, Determined Stars FC and Bethel Warriors FC. Group F comprises Haas FA, Lucky FC, Rivas FC and Evalight FC. In Group G are Youngsters FC, De Sholly FC, Best Giant FC and Fuji Top FC, as group H consist of Leed United, 94 Heroes FC, Tico FC and Paddysco FC.

Director of MJ Sports Promotion, Whensu Joseph Preye said all the teams are ready for the tournament and urged the club owners, coaches and players to abide by the rules and regulations.

He said the competition would be tough noted that all the clubs that would feature in the competition have football pedigree in Badagry and other parts of Lagos.

In his own comment, Ilorin Sonbari Markarbo who is also a member of organizing committee tasked the participating teams to see the competition as friendly saying that any team that violates the rules would be sanctioned accordingly.

He further said they have contacted certified referees that would officiate all the matches and warned football fans to desist from any social vices that can tarnish the image of the competition.
