Hotel Guard Loses Leg To A Drunken Customer

A security guard with a popular Lagos hotel, Charles Nnamani has lost one of his legs after he was hit by an SUV driven by a customer suspected to be under alcohol influence while attempting to open the hotel gate for him to leave.
The guard was badly injured and was rushed to a hospital where his led was later amputated to save his life.
The incident happened at the hotel located at Ajao Estate, Lagos.
The driver, Emmanuel Chukwu, 30 has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court with reckless driving without care to other road users.
According to police, Chukwu drove his Pathfinder SUV with registration number, EKY 727 BX and hit Nnamani which caused him grievous harm leading to his leg been amputated.
According to Chukwu, he was in the hotel to have a drink and when he was leaving, as the victim opened the hotel gate for him to leave, he said he did not knew he was beside the gate when he attempted to drove off and hit his leg and was badly injured.
He said when he saw what happened, he came down and rushed him to a hospital for a treatment.
He said the victim sustained serious injury and the doctor at the hospital had to cut off the damaged leg to save his life.
He said he did not intentionally hit him and since the incident happened, he has being taking care of his treatment.
The matter was reported at Ajao police division and Chukwu was arrested and his vehicle impounded and taken to the station.
He was charged to the court with the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O Adedayo granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 2 November 2016.
