House Help Uses Log Of Wood To Kill Boss, Carts Away Properties

When Martins Omeri, a Deputy Chief Auditor in the office of the Accountant General of Federation, FCT, Abuja, engaged the services of 27-year old, Cephas Iliya, as house help, he may not have known that he had employed the person that will kill him.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that while the boss, Omeri, was sleeping on his bed, Iliya used a log of wood to murder him, parked all his properties and escaped.

The incident happened at Navy Estate Karshi, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State, where he resided before he was gruesomely murdered in his sleep.

However, two days later, after the corpse was almost decomposing inside the house, the Police from Nasarawa Command, uncovered the dastardly act, arrested the suspect, Iliya and recovered some properties he took away after killing the boss.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramham Nansel, who confirmed that Iliya was in Police custody undergoing interrogation. 

He said that on 24th November, 2020, at about 1145hrs, Police personnel attached to Karshi Division acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspect at Arab area, FCT, Abuja. A coordinated and diligent search was conducted in his apartment where the following items belonging to the deceased were recovered as exhibit: one Infinix phone, Laptop computer, clothing, pairs of shoe, clipper, beddings and few other properties.

The suspect confessed that he sneaked into the house of the deceased in the dead of the night on 17th November, 2020, while he was asleep and killed him using a log of wood while his dead body was discovered on 19th November, 2020.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe, has directed that, the case should be transferred to State Criminal and Investigation Department, Lafia, for an exhaustive investigation after which the suspect will be arraigned in the Court of law.

The Commissioner of Police enjoined members of the public to thoroughly screen and get to know the family of those they intend to employ as house helps before doing so.
