A 20-year old house maid, Glory Edem Solomon, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly attempting to kill children belonging to her boss, Mrs. Bola Diya, by adding Savlon antiseptic inside the water bottle containing water for drinking.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd July, 2025, at Abba Johnson Crescent, Ikeja, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect was engaged as a house maid to their house and they started living together. However, the Police did not state if the suspect had any previous disagreement with her boss before she attempted to poison her children.
She was alleged to have added the suspected substance before she was caught and handed over to the Police at MAN Center Division, where she was detained for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
Ater interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, GLORY EDEM SOLOMON on 3rd July, 2025 at about 0622hrs, at No. 4b Abba Johnson Crescent, Ikeja, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did attempt to commit felony by adding Savlon antiseptic inside the water bottle containing water for drinking, belonging to the children of your boss, one Biola Diya ‘f of the above-mentioned address and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Phillip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
