House Of Reps 2027: Labour Party Candidate, Hon. Anthony Ikenna Okafor Promises Quality & People-centered Representation

The Labour Party candidate for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon. Anthony Ikenna Okafor, has pledged quality and impactful representation if elected in the 2027 general elections.

 

Hon. Okafor made the pledge while addressing journalists in Nnewi, where he reeled out a detailed legislative and constituency agenda focused on education, industrialization, infrastructure, healthcare and economic empowerment.

The federal lawmaker hopeful said his mission is to ensure that the people of the constituency feel the direct impact of government at all levels.

“By the grace of God, I am not going to Abuja to make up the numbers at the National Assembly. I have detailed plans on bills to sponsor and areas of special focus, which are very important to my people,” Hon. Okafor stated.

He noted that years of under-representation and poor follow-through on federal interventions have left many communities in the three LGAs struggling with basic needs, despite the area’s huge industrial and commercial potential.

Hon. Okafor outlined key areas he intends to prioritize in the 10th Assembly when given the mandate. They include:

1. Education and Human Capital Development: Bills and interventions to improve access to quality education, vocational training, and scholarships for indigent students.
2. Industrialization and SMEs: Legislative support for Nnewi’s industrial base, access to funding, and policies that protect and grow small and medium enterprises.
3. Job Creation and Youth Empowerment: Partnerships with federal agencies to attract skills acquisition programs, digital jobs and entrepreneurship grants for youths and women.
4. Roads, Power and Basic Infrastructure: Aggressive advocacy for federal road projects, rural electrification and erosion control across Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo.
5. Healthcare and Social Welfare: Bills to strengthen primary healthcare centers, maternal and child health programmes, and social intervention for the elderly and vulnerable.
6. Agriculture and Rural Economic Development: Initiatives to support farmers with inputs, storage facilities, and market access to boost food production and rural income.

“My mission is people-centered and quality representation. My teeming constituents will feel the impact of government at different levels,” he said.

Hon. Okafor stressed that the federal constituency, with Nnewi as Nigeria’s foremost auto and manufacturing hub, deserves stronger federal presence to unlock jobs and investment.

He said he will work with relevant ministries, agencies and the private sector to attract industrial parks, power projects, and trade-friendly policies that will make the area more competitive globally.

“We have the capacity, the skills and the entrepreneurs. What we need is representation that understands the economy and can translate it into federal policies and projects,” he added.

The Labour Party candidate also promised regular town hall meetings, constituency briefings and a functional constituency office to ensure transparency and feedback.

He urged voters to elect representatives based on capacity, vision and commitment rather than party sentiments alone.

“As we approach 2027, I am asking for your support and your prayers. Together, we can build a constituency that works for everyone — from the market women in Nkwo to the factory workers in Otolo, from students in Ukpor to farmers in Amichi,” Okafor said.

Hon. Anthony Ikenna Okafor is contesting to represent one of Anambra’s most commercially active federal constituencies, covering Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo LGAs.
