A 29-year-old domestic help, Idara Archibong, who allegedly stole her employer’s cash and properties including jewellery worth N13.3 million, was on Friday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The accused is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
She, however, denied the charges.
The prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 27 at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
He alleged that Ms. Archibong stole jewellery valued at N10 million, coral beads, pearl chokers, 250 euros and $29,600, all valued at N13.39 million, property of the complainant, Muriel Cuturi.
The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 280(1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The magistrate, A. S. Okubule, admitted the accused to a bail of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, who should show proof of tax payment for three years to the state government.
Further hearing in the case has been fixed for June 7.
