When a woman, Mrs. Febisola Adedayo, engaged Emmanuel Akpan as her househelp, she did did know that she has brought death close to her household following what happened recently.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Emmanuel Akpan has been arrested after he murdered his madam, Mrs. Adebayo over N3,500, which she brought home in Ondo State.
Akpan told the Police that he was told by his brother, Goodness Ekpe, that his madam was keeping a huge sum of money in the house.The suspect, Akpan then hacked her madam to death with a cutlass while she was asleep at her house located at lfokanbale Street, Ondo town, Ondo State.
After searching the whole house, he could only find N3,500 contrarily to what his brother, Ekpe, told him. But by then his madam has already been murdered and they fled.
The suspects, Akpan and Goodness, were later apprehended at a village in Ogun State where Police detectives trailed them to after committing the dastardly act.
A Police source said it was only the sum of N3,500 that was found in the apartment of the deceased after she was murdered in cold blood.
Akpan, who was paraded by the Ondo State Police Command in Akure, told newsmen, “It was the devil that pushed me to kill my madam”.
“l received information from my brother, Goodness, that my madam has been keeping a lot of money in the house.He told me to kill her so that we can steal the money and run away. I killed her but did not find any huge money in the house.”
Akpan said he had worked with the deceased for three years before he killed her. But his brother, Goodness, denied asking Akpan to kill his madam.
The State Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami, said aside the cash of N3,500 carted away by the suspects, two mobile phones, jewelries, and a generator were also stolen from the house of the deceased.
Salami said that the suspects would be charged to Court after investigation has been completed.
The suspects will likely be charged for murder which attracts life imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court.
