A 33-year old housewife, Olajumoke Olalere, has been remanded at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stabbing her 39-year old husband, Oluwasegun Tinubu, to death.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the defendant, Mrs. Olalere, was remanded in custody following her arraignment before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court for the alleged murder under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, who did not take the defendant’s plea for lack of jurisdiction, ordered her remand pending the legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
The matter was adjourned till 5th March, 2025 for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, had told the court that the defendant on 30th October, 2024, at 9.00pm allegedly caused the death of her husband, Oluwasegun Tinubu.
Akinloye said that the defendant allegedly stabbed her husband with a knife during a disagreement at their house, at Zone 5, Gbelu,  Iyana–Agbala, Ibadan.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendant may likely be charged for the alleged murder which attracts several years of imprisonment or death penalty if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial before the Court.
