A housewife, Dorcas Oluwabukola, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly pouring hot water on her husband and inflicting injury on his body over suspicion of adultery.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Meiran area of Lagos, where they reside.
The woman, Dorcas, has been arrested by the Police and detained at the Meiran Division while her husband was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment due to injuries he sustained during the attack.
This was confirmed by the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who said the sad incident happened on 18th December, 2023 and the suspect was in custody over her conduct.
The PPRO explained that the couple had planned to attend a wedding together until the husband decided to go alone. The decision led to an altercation after which the woman boiled water and poured it on her husband.
The Police spokesman said that the victim is currently receiving treatment at a healthcare facility while the Command has commenced an investigation into the incident.
He stated that the suspect will be transferred to the SCID at Yaba for further investigation and the suspect may likely be charged before the Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
At the Meiran Police Division, where the suspect is currently detained, Police sources confirmed the incident and assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and the Division was monitoring the progress of the husband, who had been hospitalised since the incident.
“It is true the incident happened. It was a true story. She poured hot water on her husband purposely because she felt that he cheated on her,” the Police source said.
“They were supposed to go to a party together. However, the husband went all alone. We are still monitoring the progress of the husband because he has been hospitalised since that day. He has not been discharged.”
“We arrested the wife immediately because that is a capital offence. There is no option for bail. We are waiting for the appropriate time for us to move the case to the State CID.”
