Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command have commenced investigation on a trader at Ikotun Market, Sunday Ezeh, for publicly disgracing his wife, Nwaneka Ezeh, by attacking and stripping her naked over her inability to bear a male child.
.P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 48 Baba Ijesha Street, Moonlight Bus Stop, Igando area of Lagos, where they reside.
The embattled mother of three, Nwaneka, got married to Mr. Sunday from Awgu in Awgu Local Government area of Enugu State, 14 years ago and they had only daughters.
Mr. Sunday was said to have become angry and wanted the wife to leave his house with her daughters so that he will get another wife, who will bear him a male child.
The matter was initially reported at Igando Police Division, where Sunday was detained for his conduct and later moved to the Gender Section of the State Command for further investigation after Mr. Sunday asked his wife and the three daughters, Joy, 13, Blessing, 5 and Miracle, 4, to leave.
Trouble was said to have started after his wife, Nwaneka, bore her last daughter, Miracle. When Sunday realized that it was a girl again, he became angry and aggressive towards his wife and the children.
According to the embittered Nwaneka, her husband became violent and blamed her for being responsible for the female children while claiming that she brought ill luck by not bearing a male child that will inherit his property. He then vowed to frustrate Nwaneka and the children.
Thus, Mr. Sunday stopped providing food for the family, stopped the children from going to school and ordered his wife to move away from his house so that he will bring in another wife
While operatives at the Gender Section were still investigating his conduct, he pleaded and signed an undertaking that he will start providing both food and education for the children but had failed to do so.
Rather he went to Igando Customary Court in Lagos seeking for the dissolution of his 14-year old marriage to his wife, Nwaneka, so that he will not provide food and education for the children.
At the Igando Customary Court, Mr. Sunday alleged that his wife was threatening his life and had denied him sex for the past one year. And that he was no longer in love with her and asked the Court to dissolve the marriage so that he will throw out his wife and children and then bring in a new wife.
The matter came up at the Court and Mr. Sunday insisted and asked the Court to dissolve their marriage while Nwaneka told the Court that she was still in love with Sunday and will stay in the marriage to train her children.
When Mr. Sunday was contacted, he told our reporter that he does not want Nwaneka again and that he lost interest after she had a miscarriage after the doctor told had him that the baby was a male child.
Nwaneka is crying out for assistance from well meaning Nigerians as she claimed that Mr. Sunday had boasted that he will use his money to ensure that Nwaneka and the children leaves his house to enable him get another wife.
