It was double jeopardy for a young lady,  Kehinde Damilola, after two ladies, Oladimeji Abike, 25 and Olarewaju Taiwo, 22, conspired and inflicted injury on her face with razor blade after snatching her lover in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Lafenwa Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where they reside.
The ladies were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and assault.
Trouble was said to have started after one of the ladies, Abike, discovered that his brother was dating the victim and she did not like it. She then brought her friend, Taiwo and hooked her up with him. The victim later discovered, confronted Taiwo and warned her not to near her boyfriend.
Taiwo then informed Abike what happened and two of them went to the victim’s house armed with razor blade. They used it to slice her face, head, jaw and other parts of her body before they escaped.
The victim was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment while the matter was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the ladies at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the suspects were found culpable and consequently charged to Court as they claimed that they did so because the victim had warned Taiwo to stay clear from her boyfriend, which they did not like.
They pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 25th October, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
