How 2 Men Allegedly Burgled Warehouse & Carted Away N5m Of Children’s Shoe

Two men, Samusu Abubakar and Ismaila Umoru, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a warehouse and carting away children’s shoe worth N5m belonging to one Donatus at Tradefair Complex. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 5th May, 2025, at One Plaza inside the Tradefair Complex in Lagos, where the complainant owned a warehouse.

 

According to the Police,  the suspects broke into the warehouse, stole the items and while they tried to escape, they were caught by the security on duty and handed over to the Police at Tradefair Division for interrogation and prosecution.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Samusu Abubakar,Ismaila Umoru and others now at large on the 05/05/2025, at No 1 Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit breaking and stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to, and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT 2:”That you, Samusu Abubakar, Ismaila Umoru and one other at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did willfully break into the warehouse of One Donatus ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to, and punishable under Section 309, Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT III:” That you, Samusu Abubakar and Ismaila Umoru and one other at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did steal 10(Ten) Cartons of Children shoes from the warehouse which were valued the sum of N5,000,000 (Five million Naira) property of one Donatus ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280, and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

However, they pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ogun, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
