Police detectives have arrested two suspects, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, for allegedly conspiring to kill a woman, Felicia Namkywa, in order to cover up N40,000 debt, which one of them, Ibrahim, owed her in Agwatashi, Obi local government area of Nasarawa State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Ibrahim and Ayuba, of Shember village, lured the woman, a petty trader, to a location and strangled her to death.

This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, on Sunday in Lafia. He confirmed the detention of the suspects undergoing interrogation over their alleged conduct.

The image maker stated that the arrest followed a complaint lodged at Obi Divisional Police Headquarters that the trader has been missing for days, and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive.

DSP Nansel explained that the victim was lured via a phone call by one of the suspects, Ibrahim, who was owing her the sum of N40,000 to come and purchase grains in one of the Fulani settlements of the area.

“Unknown to her, there was a sinister plan to take her life and dispossess her of her business capital,” he stated.

He stated that the suspects upon interrogation confessed to having lured and abducting the victim, taking her deep into the forest where she was strangled to death while they collected N500,000 with which the victim intended to buy the grains. They went ahead to dump her remains in a swamp.

Nansel noted that after a painstaking investigation, the suspects who were arrested by the detectives attached to Obi Division, after interrogation subsequently led the Police operatives to the scene where the decayed remains of the victim were recovered.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department to swiftly conclude the investigation and charge the suspects to court for immediate prosecution.

He further extended his condolences to the family of the victim and urged them to be calm while assuring them that justice would be served.

He stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for murder under the Criminal laws of the State and that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
