A 35-year old lady has been abducted, stripped naked and gang raped by two men, who were supposed to assist her to secure a security job in Ibeji Lekki area of Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 15th August, 2023, at M32 Hostel and M4 Dining in Ibeji Lekki, where the lady went to secure a job.
Apart from mercilessly beating and raping the lady, the suspects tied her mouth with cloth and recorded their rape action on their phone for undisclosed purposes despite the fact they were having first contact with the victim under the false pretence of assisting her to secure a job.
According to Police sources,  the lady went to look for a security job in the area before she was accosted by the suspects. They abducted and took her to the place, where she was subjected to torture for submission and then raped her before she was later allowed to go.
The alleged dastardly act was reported to the Police, who moved into action and one of the suspects, Shuaibu Olufowobi Gbenga, 37, was arrested while his accomplice, Essien Umana Ben, is still at large.
The suspect, Gbenga, was transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation and while there he mentioned Ben, who is now on the run, as his accomplice.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy, sexual assault and rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O   Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
