Three night guards, who absconded from work and went to sleep, have landed in trouble in Lagos after robbers went to the warehouse they were supposed to guard, looted some items and escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that they have been arrested and charged before the Court for conspiracy and stealing.

The incident happened at Everything Electric Company’s warehouse located at No. 27 Osolo Way in Ajao Estate, Lagos, where the guards Abubaka Sodiq, 21, Agbo David, 29 and Benjamin Boniface, were employed to guard at night.

The guards were said to have always gone back to their houses to sleep but at the end of the every month they will be paid salary.

On the day the incident happened, they were in their different houses sleeping when robbers broke into the warehouse and carted away some items including laptops, CCTV cameras, monitors, cables and other items.

In the morning, when the workers came to work and discovered that the warehouse was broken into and looted, the security guards were then confronted. They said they did not know when the robbers broke the warehouse and carted away the items.

They were subsequently handed over to the Police at Ajao Estate Division and it was alleged that they were behind the stealing because they were purportedly on duty on the said day.
They denied the allegation and confessed that they were sleeping in their various homes and did not go to work despite the fact that they were not being owed any salary.

They were then charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 8th April, 2021, for mention.
