A 15-year old girl has been left traumatized in Lagos State after she was gang raped by four men, who lured her and forcefully took turns to engage her in sex romp.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 22nd January, 2022, at Oguntokun Street, Ajegunle area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the girl was lured into an apartment, where she met the gang who forced her to remove her clothes and pants before they engaged her sexually one after the other with threats to deal with her if she resisted the assault on her.
Having satisfied themselves, she was allowed to go with the warning not to tell anybody about what happened. But when the girl got home, she told her parents what happened.
She was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment and tests because it was unprotected sex as she was injured in the process.
The matter was then reported to the Police in the area and a manhunt was embarked on the suspects. Eventually, one of them, Aboh Paul, was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation over the act while other suspects were said to be at large.
During interrogation, the suspect, Paul, was said to have admitted committing the crime and mentioned other suspects he alleged joined in the alleged gang rape.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
When he was arraigned however, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to DPP while the matter was adjourned till 7th April, 2022.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
