A 25-year old lady has been traumatized after four suspected armed robbers invaded her apartment and first raped her in turns before carting away her properties in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Iyana Isasi area of Lagos, where she resides.
Four of the suspected robbers namely Bafor Anaegbulam, 23, Olamilekan Yusuf, 28, John Emmanuel, 25 and Sodiq Rasaq, 36, were later arrested by the Police intelligence at SCID Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
According to Police sources, the suspects invaded the lady’s apartment in June, 2021, at night and forcefully gained entrance into her apartment.
She was ordered to remove her pant and clothes with threats to kill her and the lady complied. They took turns to rape her before they carted away her properties.
Some of her properties carted away included her phone, gold, necklace, women hand bags, foot wears and others.
The matter was reported to the Police, who moved into action and eventually arrested the suspects while others were said to be at large.
After interrogation and having been found culpable, they were subsequently charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for conspiracy, rape and stealing.
However, the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Barrister J.O. Hodonu, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Salawu, ordered their remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town pending the outcome of the DPP’s report.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP while the matter was further adjourned till 11th October, 2021, for the report of the DPP to be available.
The defendants may likely be transferred to the High Court for trial if the DPP finds them culpable and recommends their trial for the alleged offence over jurisdiction.
