The fight against cultism in Lagos State is gaining momentum following the recent arrest of four suspected notorious cult hitmen linked to several violent crimes and killings in a hotel room in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that apart from the arrest, the Police Command recovered cache of arms as exhibits during the sting operation in Ajangbadi, Ojo area of Lagos State.
The suspects, Emmanuel Nwokolo alias “Oblo” (35), Ayola Israel alias “Essy Pawpaw” (39), Ebuka Nnamdi (31), and Chinedu Okafor (22), were apprehended in a hotel in Ajangbadi, Ojo Local Government Area, following credible intelligence received by the Command.
So far, the Police preliminary investigation revealed disturbing evidence of the suspects’ involvement in violent criminal activities. One of the exhibits is a video recovered from one of the suspects’ mobile phones allegedly showed the killing of unidentified persons within Ajangbadi and surrounding communities.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Adebisi, who stated that the suspects are in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their alleged conduct.
Adebisi explained that during interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity and confessed to being responsible for terrorising residents through series of killings and other violent crimes.
She stated that further investigations and searches conducted by the operatives led to the recovery of two (2) locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol, and thirteen (13) live cartridges believed to have been used in the commission of their criminal activities.
She stated that investigation is ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in other criminal cases, identify additional members of the gang, and apprehend all accomplices.
The Police spokesperson hinted that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations for the various crimes proved by evidence to have been committed by the suspects.
