Two Teachers of Zaria Children School, Kaduna State, have been arrested and charged before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Tudun-Wada Zaria, over alleged defilement of an 11-year old female minor inside the school toilet.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the two female teachers so far arraigned were Atoyebi-Eunice Temitope (female) of No. 2, Dogon Bauchi, Sabon Gari, Zaria and Adeyemo Damilola (female) of Hanwa New Extension, Zaria while three others are now at large.
The alleged defilement took place at the school premises located at Queen Elizabeth Road, G.R.A, Zaria, also one of the famous and oldest schools in the city, which was built by the colonial masters.
The Prosecutor, Mustapha Abdulkadir, told the Court that the two teachers and three others (now at large) were standing trial on charge hinged on an unnatural offence (lesbianism), contrary to Section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.
The prosecutor explained that on 11th September, 2025, one Yahaya Aliyu of Tudun Jukun area, Zaria, went to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Zaria Area Command and reported against the defendants.
He alleged that sometime on September, 2025, when the nominal complainant’s wife was bathing the victim, an 11-year-old pupil and a Junior Secondary School (JSS-1) student at the school, she observed that the victim was molested.
“Upon interrogation at home, the victim mentioned the names of the defendants and alleged that it started sometime in 2023, when the victim was in primary three.”
“The victim also alleged that the first defendant, Temitope (known to the victim as Mrs. Okasha), took the victim to a toilet near Class 4A during the long break lesson period and put an object into her private part.”
“She alleged that the incident happened over three different times and further alleged that Mrs. Okasha threatened to inform kidnappers to abduct her if she disclose the affair to anybody,’’ he said.
The prosecutor also told the court that on 16th September, 2025, when the school resumed, the second defendant Adeyemo Damilola called the victim upstairs (the secondary school section) and entered the female toilet with her.
He added that while in the female toilet, the second defendant inserted something into her private part using an object that looks like a syringe.
The prosecutor told the court that the alleged actions of the defendants violated Section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017 as amended.
The Presiding Magistrate, Rabi Hashim, ordered the remand of the defendants at the Zaria Correctional Centre pending the DPP’s legal advice from the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd October, 2025, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
