Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested six suspected armed robbers for allegedly invading Military Barracks with uniforms to loot ammunition from the armoury for operations.
The suspects were Nura Ibrahim, 25, Kabiru Abubakar, 23, Baba Maina, 25 Safianu Bashir, 25 Abdullahi Mohammed, 22 and Abaa Saleh,18.
They were arrested at the Ikeja Military Cantoment with Military uniforms after they went to the armoury to loot ammunition on 22nd April, 2025, for their robbery operations.
Their plans however, failed as they were arrested and handed over to the Police at State Criminal Investigations Department at Yaba for further investigation over their conduct.
According to the Police, the suspects in the evening on 22nd April, 2025, wore Military uniforms and went to the armoury to loot ammunition before the security guards on duty discovered that they were fake Military officers and held them for interrogation.
During interrogation, they were discovered to be fake Military officers, who invaded the Cantonment for the purpose of looting arms from the armoury before they were caught.
They were found culpable and consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read :
COUNT I: That you NURA IBRAHIM ‘M’, KABIRU ABUBAKAR ‘M’, ΒΑΒΑ ΜΑΙΝΑ ‘M’, SAFIANU BASHIRU ‘M’, ABDULAHI MOHAMMED, M’ ABAA SALEH ‘M’ and others at large, on the 22nd of April, 2025 at about 1700hrs within the Ikeja Military Cantonment, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to loot away some military ammunition and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Law Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT I I:”That you, NURA IBRAHIM ‘M’, KABIRU ABUBAKAR ‘M’, BABA MAINA ‘M’, SAFIANU BASHIRU ‘M’, ABDULAHI MOHAMMED ‘M’ ABAA SALEH ‘M’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully have in your possession some Military ammunition and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 211 of the Criminal Law Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Victor Eruada, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
