Facts have emerged on how a former Military Administrator and retired Army General’s son was assassinated by unknown gunmen at a popular drinking joint in Surulere area of Lagos.

P. M.EXPRESS reports that the dare devil assassins on Thursday shot dead the son of a retired Army General and one time Military Administrator of Ondo State, Brigadier General Opaleye (Rtd).
The deceased, identified as Muyiwa Babafumilayo Okpaleye, was shot dead at a popular drinking joint on Adekunle Kuye Street, Surulere area of Lagos, while he went to the place with his friend.
It was learnt that the gunmen, about four in number, shot the deceased dead at close range before bolting away.
One of the friends of the deceased, identified as Kunle, who tried to rush him to the hospital, was arrested and taken to Soloki Police Station.
It was learnt that all efforts made at convincing the Police that the deceased was his friend fell on deaf ears.
It was gathered that Kunle was interrogated and made to write a statement while Muyiwa’s body was taken to a morgue.
“Unfortunately, Kunle, who made spirited efforts to save his friend, was clamped into detention while the case was transfered to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba for further investigation” one Fafai, who claimed to have witnessed the shooting said.
It was also gathered that Opa, as Muyiwa was popularly called, is the last born in the noble family of the one time Military Administrator of Ondo State, Brigadier General Opaleye (Rtd).
He was working with a sporting outfit called City Sports and lives at Ajose Adeogun Street in Victoria Island.
Muyiwa reportedly frequents Surulere where he has a lot of friends and admirers. His assassination sparked off a lot of sympathy and emotions from his Facebook friends who lamented his demise in words like, “unbelievable, So sad, a sad loss, etc”.
Police sources said that already crack homicide detectives at Panti, Yaba, have swung into action after receiving matching orders from both Lagos Police boss, Hakeem Odumosu and DCP Longe. It was gathered that they were given 48 hours to unravel the mystery surrounding the dastardly act and arrest the perpetrators.
