The ‘sins’ of the parents were visited on two kids aged 7 and 4  at Bucknor Estate in Ejigbo area of Lagos, where children were not allowed to go to school over community levy.

The reason was that their parents had failed to pay the estate levy and the kids were disallowed from going to school when their parents had gone to work.

The incident happened at Meregini Street where the victims parents resided.

It was gathered that the CDA leaders had resolved that any resident who did not pay his security levy every month, that their children will not be allowed to go to school and the parents were also not allowed to go to work until such parents complied.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the children were ordered out of the school bus and sent home by the CDA, after they told them that they will not go to school again unless their parents paid the N1000 levy.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that the CDA constructed big gates at the two entrances leading out of the estate. As such, when those gates were locked, there will be no exit for either parents or the children going to school.

This has been the situation until the latest assault happened and it was reported to the Area Commander, Zone D Mushin who ordered the arrested of the perpetrators.

Two suspects, Samson Sulola,46 and Akamnonu Chijioke,39 were arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates court for their involvement in the act.

The police alleged that the suspects disallowed the victims from going to school because their parents failed to pay estate levy.

They pleaded not guilty.

Thus the presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Adedayo granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momah did not object to their bail condition.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.

P.M.EXPRESS learnt that one of the suspects, a former bank manager, Mr. Felix Okoh, arrested in connection with the crime was cleared by the police because he condemned the action of the suspects on that day.
