Following the gale of defections into its folds in reaction to the movement of the State Governor, His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade to the party, the Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ordered for three million bundles of brooms from local producers in the state.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Bassey Ita, the party noted that scarcity of broom, which is APC’s symbol, has hit Cross River as millions of enthusiastic Cross Riverians continue to join the party in solidarity with the visionary and people-oriented Governor.

To address the challenge, the party ordered for three million bundles of broom from local suppliers to meet growing demand.
“It is no longer news that the broom revolution has since hit our dear state following the defection of our amiable governor to our party, but what is now news is that broom scarcity has hit Cross River following growing demand for it as millions of our people continue to identify with the party.
“It is heart-warming that barely one month after the defection of His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade into the APC, millions of our people including the youths have been pouring into the party on daily basis.
“Last weekend alone, scores of Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) faithful, including Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, Federal and State lawmakers alongside over 100,000 of their supporters in Bekwarra, Ikom and Etung joined the party,” Ita said in the statement.

To meet the growing demand for broom , the party said it has ordered for the procurement of three million bundles “because we cannot afford to deny Cross Riverians the possession of our party symbol as they troop into the APC, all the bunches of broom in the state having been virtually mopped up.”

The party said it salutes the tenacity of purpose and single mindedness of the people of the state for aligning with Governor Ayade in his drive to socket Cross River to the center.
