Facts have emerged on how a 45-year old tricycle rider (‘Keke’), Suleiman Adekola, drove his tricycle to a football field in Lagos with killer insecticide and committed suicide.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the football pitch located along Abaranje Road, Ikotun area of Lagos, where he allegedly drank the substance inside his tricycle.

However, few minutes after he drank the substance, the residents, who suspected him, raised alarm after seeing the tricycle rider, Suleiman, motionless, which attracted passersby. The Police at Ikotun Division were contacted immediately and they raced to the scene.

The Police retrieved his corpse from the tricycle and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report while his tricycle was taken to the station for further investigation.

What would have made the deceased to commit suicide was not known even to his bereaved wife, Mrs. Nike Adekola, who is yet to recover from the shock of losing her husband.

They were said to have been happily married for several years and had two children before the sad incident.

On how his colleagues got to know what happened, when people saw his body inside his tricycle parked on the football pitch, they went to the tricycle operators’ park to inform them that one of their colleagues had died.

According to an eye witness, “His colleagues rushed to the football pitch, saw his lifeless body in the tricycle and also confirmed that he was attached to their park”.
“It is surprising that he committed suicide. He never complained that he was going through any challenges. In fact, one of our colleagues saw him on that day and they had a brief chat; he never complained of anything and that is why we are surprised.” said one of his colleagues.

The deceased’s wife, Nike, while lamenting the circumstances surrounding the death, said her two children had been stopped from school due to the incident and she is yet to come to reality that she has no husband any longer.

When P.M.EXPRESS reporter visited Ikotun Police Division, his tricycle was seen in front of the Station but was unable to meet with the DPO, CSP Johnson Adagba, who was said to have gone to the Police Command for CP’s briefing.
