How Driver Was Assassinated For Failure To Disclose Boss’ Whereabouts

A private driver, Suleiman Mustapha, has paid a supreme price for not disclosing the whereabouts of his boss, Hon. Oluwatoyin Ganiu, as he was shot dead by suspected hired assassins during an operation in Lagos State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Nigeria Police officers from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Abuja, have tracked one of the suspects, a 55-year old Adekoya Odutayo, a.k.a Emmanuel over his alleged role in the assassination of the driver, Suleiman Mustapha, for refusing to disclose the whereabouts of his boss, Hon. Oluwatoyin Ganiu.

 

The incident happened on 13th September, 2025, on Epe Expressway where the suspect, Emmanuel and others now at large targeted Hon. Ganiu and missed him.

 

According to the Police, the suspect, Adekoya, intercepted Hon. Ganiu’s Toyota Sequia with a Berretta pistol, damaged the door of the vehicle and when they did not find their target,  Hon.Ganiu, they asked the driver,  Mustapha to disclose the whereabouts but he refused. He was shot dead.

 

The matter was reported to the Police. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the prime suspect,  Emmanuel and recovered forged Animashaun Family Land Receipt” document.

The suspect, Adekoya Odutayo, a.k.a Emmanuel, has been charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy,  murder, illegal possession of firearms and forgery under the Criminal law of the State.

 

The prosecutor, CSP Charles Akinrosoye, moved a motion asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.

 

The Court ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.

 

The charges read:

That you, Adekoya Odutayo a.k.a Emmanuel ‘m’, and others at large, on the 13th day of September 2025, at about 0830hours, at Kilometer 42. Epe Expressway, Ibeju – Lekki, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to kill one Suleiman Mustapha ‘m’, who refused to disclose the whereabouts of his boss, one Honourable Oluwatoyin Ganiu and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Adekoya Odutayo a.k.a Emmanuel ‘m’, and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did illegally have in your possession one Berretta pistol without breech number or under your control and could not give a favourable account of how you come in possession of the said firearms and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special rovision) Act, Cap. R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Adekoya Odutayo a.k.a Emmanuel ‘m’, and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did willfully and unlawfully destroys the door handle by the driver’s side of one Toyota Sequia with Reg. No. GUTS 2, ash colour, property of one Hon. Oluwatoyin Ganiu and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT IV:”That you, Adekoya Odutayo a.k.a Emmanuel ‘m’, and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did knowingly forge a document titled ANIMASHAUN FAMILY LAND RECEIPT” dated 16th day of February 2025, with intent that it may be in anyway be used or acted upon as genuine whether in Nigeria or elsewhere to the prejudice of Jimoh Disu family and the general public and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 365(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
