Despite the fact that they were on break for almost two months, Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Academy returned to action on Wednesday with a 7-0 victory over Amsterdam Football Academy of Ikoyi in a friendly match played at Campos Sports center, Lagos Island.

Although nobody thought Eletu would win with a wide margin because of new players recruited in the team. Recently the academy embarked on a screening exercise where some new players were selected in the team, while some old players in the academy were promoted to the senior team.

Obasi Jude opened the scoring in the early minute of the game. Camara Malik was one of the players who threatened the opponents’ defence as he scored two goals before Habeeb Balogun made his fourth goal in the 35th minute.

Eletu were in control of the game, dominated the possession and created many scoring chances than their opponents. Amsterdam were confused in defence and collapsed in the midfield which gave their opponents to be in control of the game.

The second half witnessed more goals as Ramon Ishola, Paul Okoro and David Igwe put their names on the scorer sheet for Eletu Academy who were on the rampage throughout the encounter.

Coach of Eletu Academy, Oluwadamilola Idowu expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance noted that the players still need to work hard despite the victory. He said winning their opponents with a wide margin does not mean Eletu have arrives and charged the players to remain focused in their subsequent friendly matches.

In his own remark, goalkeeper trainer, Wasiu Lawal said he was not surprised with the result noting that the players played to the coach’s instruction which gave them victory. He commended the players for their resilience and fighting spirit and urged them to give their best in subsequent matches.

Responding to the team’s defeat, Captain of Amsterdam, Mustapha Sanni confessed that their opponents were too much to handle and blamed his colleagues for playing below expectations.

“We were not at our best against Eletu Academy. We respected them too much and we dearly paid for it. Secondly, we did not come with our key players which cost us the embarrassing results.” he said
